About the Blood CME Center

The Blood CME Center of the Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health (CMH) Foundation was established by experts in the field of hemostasis to serve as both a resource center and a platform for a range of CME activities and programs that provide the latest information on blood management and conservation.

This site has been designed to explore important issues in managing the clinical application of hemostatic agents and to promote best practices in hemostasis and operative hemostasis and transfusion medicine. Those who successfully complete the educational programs hosted on this Web site should be able to:

  • Develop a practical guide that anesthesiologists, surgeons, hematologists, blood bankers, and other healthcare professionals at their institutions can access in the management of patients at risk for acquired coagulopathy
  • Classify specific patient types who are at increased risk for perioperative and postoperative bleeding to develop appropriate hemostasis strategies
  • Evaluate appropriate on-site measurements of blood status to determine the most appropriate interventions with medications and blood preservation techniques
  • Assess newer therapeutic approaches to managing patients with potential for severe life-threatening bleeding

We hope that healthcare providers involved in blood management will utilize this online resource center freely to access programs that can influence knowledge and clinical approaches to their patients at risk for acquired coagulopathy.
