Postgraduate Institute for Medicine Sponsors Comprehensive Educational Initiative on Operative Bleeding and Thrombosis

Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM), in association with the Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health Foundation and Educational Concepts in Medicine, has developed and accredited a national initiative to provide education about operative hemostasis and transfusion medicine to clinicians who treat surgical patients at risk for bleeding and clotting.

In designing the national initiative, which is based on a comprehensive needs assessment, PIM and its associates have enlisted world-renowned experts in anesthesiology, surgery, trauma, and blood management to provide clinicians with educational programs in a variety of live forums and Web-based learning modules.

Unique to the initiative is the spectrum of learning opportunities—from a broadcast on the Professional Television Network, featuring a leading cardiothoracic anesthesiologist and a vascular surgeon, to individualized PeerPath™ programs. These activities offer each learner customized, progressive knowledge specific to one’s specialty.

Participants in any of the many free educational offerings provided through the special Web site (www.bloodcmecenter.org) can access other learning opportunities and earn additional CME/CE credits.

More importantly, clinicians involved in the care of surgical and trauma patients will learn valuable new strategies and techniques for avoiding misadventures in bleeding and thrombosis.

The initial learning module is now available for download from the Web site.
