The Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health Foundation Expands Programming

“Hemorrhagic Shock,” the latest CEnow™ activity to be posted on the Blood CME Center Web site, is based on a presentation given by John B. Holcomb, MD, FACS, at a symposium held earlier this year on trauma-related coagulopathy.

Drawing on his clinical experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq, Dr. Holcomb discusses combat-related trauma, damage control resuscitation, and the latest treatments for hemorrhagic shock. Particular emphasis is given to the plasma:red blood cell ratio for massive transfusion (MT) and use of recombinant factor VIIa for patients with severe trauma and MT.

Participate in this activity, now available on the Blood CME Center Web site, and earn 0.5 CME credits. Click here to enter program

A Q&A Podcast on “Coagulopathy in Trauma” complements this learning activity. Dr. Holcomb, along with trauma specialists Richard P. Dutton, MD, MBA, and Deborah M. Stein, MD, MPH, FACS, discuss such issues as the role of coagulopathy in trauma and ways to improve patient outcomes. Click here to access Podcast
