The Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health Foundation Adds Another CEnow™ Activity to Its Programming

Speaking at a luncheon symposium that was held earlier this year on trauma-related coagulopathy, Deborah M. Stein, MD, MPH, FACS, discussed aspects of traumatic brain injury (TBI) with acquired coagulopathy. The results of this discussion comprise the latest CEnow™ activity to be posted on the Blood CME Center Web site.

Drawing on her clinical experience as Medical Director of the Neurotrauma Critical Care Unit of the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Dr. Stein uses a TBI case as a springboard for discussion on the epidemiology and severity of TBI, primary and secondary brain injury, and hematologic complications and treatment.
Approximately 1 million people sustain TBIs annually in the United States, and 50,000 of these patients do not survive their injuries. The incidence of clotting abnormalities among this cohort ranges from 15% to 100%, representing a significant clinical challenge for the surgical team.
